Seminar This Week

You are invited to attend the International Realty Investors Network (IRIN) meeting to be held at the La Plata County Fairgrounds on Thursday, November 12 at 6:30 PM in the Pine Room. Rick Lorenz will be presenting a program on How to Invest in Real Estate Using Your IRA Funds as well as a discussion on Investing in Single Family Homes…Am I Ready to Be a Landlord? Handout materials will be provided.

Many people are not aware that it is possible to use IRA funds to acquire investment real estate. There are certain rules and procedures that must be followed and that there are certain transactions that cannot be completed using IRA funds. These items will be discussed.

Owning single family homes and renting them out can be an excellent way to provide tax shelter, income, and wealth accumulation. If you bought one rental property per child when they were born and then put it on a 20 year note you could have a free and clear house that would pay for the college education of that child. When the child is done with college you might consider selling it to provide for a nice down payment as that young adult starts their new life. On the other hand you may want to keep the house and it makes for nice easy estate planning. This and a lot more will be discussed.

The vision of the International Realty Investors Network is to provide information, contacts, education and an effective marketing forum to support real estate investors, real estate professionals and others interested in learning more about both Domestic Real Estate and International Real Estate. Tony Measles, a local real estate investor, has formed a local IRIN chapter for Durango. There is no charge for first-time attendees and the meeting is open to the public. If you think you're going to attend, please let me know so that I can have a proper number of handouts available. Please RSVP at 970-375-7007.
