Are you living in the cold NE or frigid Midwest? Tired of the snow and grey skies? Not here in Durango. Many people do not realize the type of weather we have in town…compared to our ski area located 30 minutes away, but nearly 2,000 feet higher in elevation. While the skiers are having a blast skiing at Durango Mountain Resort, others are playing tennis and golf in town. Hillcrest, our 18 hole golf course located at the college, has been open for a couple of weeks already. This week has seen the temperatures reaching the high 60’s and even the low 70’s.
Several years ago a survey was conducted of Ski Magazine readers…not advertisers who may have a vested interest…but of actual readers. Purgatory (now DMR) was voted the #1 best climate ski resort in North America! Beautiful blue skies, warm days and no blowing /drifting snows are just apart of what makes our climate so enjoyable.
